$AXTX Just Swept the Stops. Is $17.78 the Next Stop?

Price visited the stops, collected them and came back. My read on what that sequence implies for Tradr 2X Long AXTI Daily ETF.

$AXTX Just Swept the Stops. Is $17.78 the Next Stop?

Listen: hear this article read aloud (about 2 min).

Price in Tradr 2X Long AXTI Daily ETF went where the stops were, then left. That isn't noise.

$AXTX sits at $16.16, $28.44 below its 20-day high of $44.60 and $3.46 above its 20-day low of $12.70.

My read: lean bullish. Buyers are close enough to force the issue, but I want volume before I call it a breakout.

A sweep and a reversal

Against its own 60-session range, $AXTX is 75.9% below the high of $67.00 (Aug 17) and 27.2% above the low of $12.70 (Oct 30). $AXTX closed higher in 6 of its last 9 sessions. Volume over the last five sessions averaged 1.7x the twenty sessions before them.

The largest one-day move in the past twenty sessions was -25.8% on Oct 22.

Change of character up through $19.82 on the daily chart. Liquidity sweep: price ran the lows at $13.48 and closed back inside the range.

What I make of it: stops sit at obvious levels, and a sweep shows they were collected. What price does next shows whether the move was a trap or a start.

Who is positioned for what

Off-exchange trading: NORMAL: $276K block at $15.80, under half yesterday's biggest. Biggest single off-exchange print: 17,463 shares at $15.80, about $276K, on an uptick (buyer lifted). A print that size is one order being crossed away from the public book, not a crowd of small trades.

Days to cover 1.0, 1.5M shares short, short interest +152.7% since the last report. Squeeze risk 1 of 100; shorts pressing 91 of 100.

Across the broader market, the read is Neutral (bias +16). On the daily chart, technical patterns include Bear Flag, inside_bar, long_legged_doji in a down trend.

Price is below its 20-day average of $22.17 by 27.1%.

What I make of it: the data agrees with itself more than it argues, and that counts for something. It still falls short of proof.

The bull case

  • Structure setup with a measured path to $17.78

The bear case

  • Backdrop: Neutral (bias +16)
  • Failed sweeps are not remembered

What I think traders are overlooking

What I think traders are overlooking is how little room the thesis needs. The line that proves it wrong is close and the level it points to is not, which is the kind of imbalance I like to see.

None of that is visible in the candles.

What happens next, and when I'm out

If $AXTX posts a retest of the demand block $13.48 to $17.10 that holds and volume expands, I think $17.78 becomes the next serious test. Under $13.35, I'm wrong.

The honest objection is selection bias. Sweeps that worked get remembered and the ones that failed don't, so any chart can be annotated into a story afterward.

Clear the level on volume and I'm interested. Fail below the line and I'm out of the idea.

Kill switch

Any one of these and the thesis is over, no averaging down, no renaming it.

  • A close through $13.35.
  • Selling absorbs the buying at a key level and price loses it on volume.
  • Order flow reverses: the sweeps and blocks turn to the other side.
  • A scheduled event changes the picture before the trigger is reached.

My read

I lean higher, not loudly. The setup earns the lean and not the conviction, and it gets the conviction only when volume shows up.

Desk record. 18 of 103 scenario targets traded before their invalidation (17%), 56 stopped out, 29 ran out of time, average outcome +1.65% per piece. Past pieces say nothing about this one.

The desk's scenario leans bullish. Bull or bear, the kill switch above is what keeps either view honest.
