$CRWG into the print at $7.65: sellers are getting absorbed
The leveraged CRWV ETF is down 7.6% into earnings today, but the tape says someone big is buying the dip.

CRWG reports today, Oct 20, and it walks into the print at $7.65, down 7.6% on the session. Volume is 0.2x normal. Nobody is rushing the door, and I like that more than I should admit.
Price is sitting at the bottom of its range, 0% up from the low. Cheap spot to be standing when a number drops. I lean long into it, with a target of $8.26 and a line in the sand at $7.28.
Selling that goes nowhere
Sellers pushed 46% net flow today and price barely moved. That is absorption. When size keeps hitting a bid and the bid does not blink, I want to know who owns the bid.
Dark pool DIX reads 68%, so off-exchange prints lean buy. There is a $7.60 level where dark pool buyers took 15k shares, sitting just under the tape. The sheet calls the overall lean accumulation into the event. I will take it, though I would not call it a loud signal.
The part that bugs me
Large prints, the top 5% of sizes, lean 73% to the sell side. Institutions printing size, and on the wrong side of my trade. Then the smart-money read flags a trap at strength 61 of 100: price moving one way while real money positions the other.
Which way is the trap? If the dip is the move being sold into, the fade is up. If the bounce is the bait, the fade is down. I can read it both ways, and anyone who tells you it is obvious is selling something. The absorption is what tips me, since size selling into a bid that holds usually ends with the sellers tired.
The bull case
- Absorption of 46% net selling flow
- DIX at 68%, off-exchange leans buy
- Price at the bottom of its range into a catalyst
- Demand block at $7.96 and bullish gaps up to $8.23
The bear case
- Large prints lean 73% sell side
- Shorts pressing 86 of 100 with an open grade B SELL
- Trap read at 61 of 100 could cut either way
- Neutral backdrop with a bias of -13
Shorts, honestly
Short volume is 61% into earnings, and the easy story is that a beat squeezes. I do not fully buy it. Days to cover is 1.0 on 1.6M shares short, squeeze risk scores 6 of 100, and the sheet says outright there is no squeeze set-up. Short interest is up 47.4% since the last report, and shorts pressing scores 86 of 100.
So the crowd is leaning on this thing, but it is not trapped. A beat gives me a pop, not a rocket. That is why my target is one implied move up at $8.26 and not some fantasy. MEM ALGO's short model also has an open SELL at grade B. I respect it. I just think the print is the thing that settles it.
Map and plan
Underneath, a demand block at $7.96 and the $7.60 dark pool level. Overhead, bullish gaps at $8.09 and $8.23, which sit right in front of the $8.26 target. Those gaps are where I expect the tape to fill in if the print is kind. An unfilled bearish imbalance sits way up at $11.02 to $13.61, a magnet if the print disappoints, though I am not trading toward it.
The trigger on my sheet is holding above $23.34, the anchored VWAP, into the report. That number is nowhere near a $7.65 price, so I am flagging it as a mismatch rather than pretending it fits. What I actually care about is confirmation: the first 30 minutes after the print holding the gap. If the opening gap holds up, I stay. If the opposite gap holds through the first hour, I am out, and $7.28 is where I admit I was wrong.
The daily chart is a pile of indecision, a long-legged doji, a spinning top and another doji, all in a downtrend. Indecision at the lows into a catalyst is where I like to look for the turn. The backdrop is Neutral with a bias of -13, so no tailwind. This one has to stand on its own.
Kill switch
Any one of these and the thesis is over, no averaging down, no renaming it.
- Price loses $7.28
- The opposite gap holds through the first hour
- The first 30 minutes after the print fail to hold the gap
- Sell-side large prints keep stacking without any bounce
Bottom line
I am leaning long because the selling is being absorbed and the price is at the bottom of its range, and the pay is a clean $8.26 for 8.0%. The short setup is ordinary, the big prints lean the wrong way, and I do not pretend otherwise. Let the first 30 minutes after the print decide whether I am early or just wrong.
The desk leans bullish. Bull or bear, the kill switch above is what keeps either call honest.
