$ORCL Sputters After a Run, Pullback or Reset?
A brisk climb is being re-tested; Friday’s close leaves the tape asking who will defend the new range.

The tape cooled off on Friday. Oracle opened up, poked above 140, then slid to a 137.10 close that leaves questions about control.
What happened
Friday’s action started constructive: an open at 138.57 and an intraday push to a high near 140.88, but momentum flipped. The stock slid to a low of 136.92 and settled at 137.10, undercutting the prior session’s close of 139.54.
This comes after a multi-week climb that peaked at 162.52 on September 8 and then traded lower into the second half of the month. The recent sequence has been choppier, with closes stepping down from the mid-160s into the high 130s.
Why it matters
The intraday failure to hold gains reads as a loss of conviction where buyers had been active. A close notably below the prior session’s 139.54 shifts short-term bargaining power toward sellers, at least until buyers show up again.
How the market treats the low at 136.92 will define whether this pullback is a routine reset inside the larger up-leg or the start of something more serious. The path from 162.52 into the 130s is a clear retracement; the next few closes decide if it’s corrective or directional.
The data behind it
September 25 closed at 137.10 on volume of about 23.7 million, down from the heavier 56.6 million traded on September 24’s 139.54 close. Friday’s decline came on lighter activity but followed a big-volume drop the day prior.
Recent closes show the stair-step lower: 162.52 (Sept 8) into the mid-140s and then into 149.20 (Sept 22), 144.56 (Sept 23), 139.54 (Sept 24) and now 137.10 (Sept 25). That sequence reads like a controlled pullback unless support at the session low fails.
Where $ORCL can go from here
Bullish continuation. Buyers reclaim the prior close, 139.54, then push past the session high, 140.88, that sequence would read as renewed demand trying to repair the pullback and resume the larger up-leg.
Bearish rejection. Sellers drive a close below the session low, 136.92, which would suggest follow-through and increase the chance of testing earlier September closes in the high 130s and 140s.
Neutral stabilization. Price chops between the session low, 136.92, and the prior close, 139.54, for a few sessions, the tape looks range-bound while traders reassess the mid-September highs and recent selling.
What to watch next
Watch for a reclaim above the prior close, 139.54, as the cleanest sign buyers are back. If that doesn’t happen, the session low, 136.92, becomes the immediate test of seller follow-through.
