$WORX at $2.69: shorts are pressing into a 94.9% rip

A micro-cap doubles on 25.7x volume while the short side keeps selling into it, and I think that is the setup worth watching.

$WORX is at $2.69, up 94.9% on the session, with volume running 25.7x normal. Market cap is about $124K. That is not a company, that is a rounding error with a ticker, and it trades like one.

Here's what caught my eye. Nobody is waiting for a pullback. Off-exchange, 59% of the volume printed as short sales against a normal 42%. The shorts are leaning on a stock that is already running, and they are losing.

WORX price-action scenario to $7.48
Speculative scenario: real candles, then the path the setup needs. Not a forecast.

Shorts pressing, shorts bleeding

I like it when the other side is wrong in public. A stock nearly doubles and the short flow gets heavier, not lighter. That is either conviction or stubbornness, and on a float this thin the difference tends to get settled quickly.

The volume matters too. At 25.7x normal, any covering that starts has an audience. Buyers are already here, the tape is loud, and a forced buyer does not need to hunt for liquidity. That is the part of the squeeze story I believe.

The part I don't love

Let me be straight about the numbers. Squeeze risk reads 34 of 100. Shorts pressing reads 55 of 100. Days to cover is 2.6 on 9K shares short, and short interest is up 28.4% since the last report. For a long, the screen says no squeeze set-up, short positioning is ordinary. I am not going to pretend otherwise.

There is also a short model on the other side. MEM ALGO has an open SELL, grade A. And the daily chart is showing a Double Top with a couple of spinning tops in a flat trend, which is indecision dressed up as a breakout. Crowd sentiment is bullish at 53 of 100, which is barely a crowd at all. Insiders are quiet.

So this is not a loaded spring. It is a stock that got hit with a match.

Where it gets decided

Nearby, the map is tight. $2.62 and $2.85 are high-volume nodes, $2.91 is where dark pool buyers took 5k, and $2.98 is the swing high. Price sits right under that cluster. I want to see it chew through $2.98 and hold.

The confirmation I am after is a second day of 59%-plus short volume with price refusing to fall. That is shorts pressing into strength, and it is the setup where covering gets violent. If the percentage fades and price sags back under the 20-day average, the shorts were right and I am out of the way.

The scenario target is $7.48, up 178.1% over days, where the covering runs out of sellers to meet. The playbook also lists a close above $7.48 as the trigger, the swing high shorts are leaning on, which sits oddly on top of the target. I read that as a loose map, so I size accordingly. The idea is wrong at $2.42.

The business is a side note

Revenue grew 3.4% year over year last quarter, the same pace as the quarter before. Dull. Gross margin is 46.8%, up 20.4 pts from a year ago, with an eight-quarter trend of +5.1 pts a quarter. That is the better half of the story, but nobody paid up 94.9% today for margin trends in computer processing and data prep.

Market backdrop is neutral, bias +5. No help, no headwind. This one stands or falls on its own order flow.

Bottom line

I lean bullish, but it is a tape trade, not a thesis, and the screen's own squeeze score is lukewarm. If shorts press a second day and price will not give back the move, I want to be long into the covering. If they stop pressing and the 20-day goes, I will be wrong quickly and I will say so.
