$BEX at $21.55: a $42.95 target needs a lot to go right

The structure says a sweep and a reclaim could send $BEX back to the equal highs, but the price on the screen is nowhere near where the map says it should be.

$BEX at $21.55: a $42.95 target needs a lot to go right

$BEX is down 7.2% at $21.55, and volume is 0.0x normal. A drop that size on no volume is either a thin print or a market where nobody wants to bother. I don't love either reading.

Still, the daily chart has a story, and I lean toward its bullish ending. Character changed down through $30.51. Price then ran the lows at $30.38 and closed back inside the range. That is a sweep. The trouble is that the tape sits far below all of it, and I would rather say so now than bury it in paragraph six.

The map I'm working from

The break of structure started somewhere, and it started at the supply block from $38.00 to $41.33. That block is active. It is where the sellers last had full control, and it is the first place I want to see price come back to.

The setup is a retest of that block that holds. Then I want a close back above the break level on rising volume. Only then does the target at $42.95 make sense, because that is the resting liquidity at the equal highs. It would be a move of +99.3% over 1 to 3 weeks. Doubling in that window is a big ask, and I am not pretending otherwise.

Where this falls apart

My own invalidation is $30.08. The idea is wrong on a close below the swept low, because then the sweep was the real move and not a trap. Price is at $21.55. By the letter of my rule, this thesis is either already broken or the levels are stale. I can't tell you which with confidence.

The flow doesn't help. The smart-money read is markdown, sellers in control, strength 100 of 100. Large prints in the top 5% of sizes lean 100% to the sell side. Dark pool DIX is 23%, and off-exchange prints lean sell. The sheet calls the tape mixed. I'd call it mixed in the way a one-sided fight is mixed because someone threw a single jab.

There is also unfilled bearish imbalance from $26.40 to $28.55. Bounces into the levels above are exactly where the positioned side adds. A rally that reaches that zone is not a gift. It is an invitation to be sold to.

The bull case

  • Sweep of $30.38 closed back inside the range
  • Active supply block at $38.00 to $41.33 as a magnet
  • Equal highs resting at $42.95
  • Demand block and bullish gap clustered near $21.67

The bear case

  • Sellers in control, strength 100 of 100
  • Large prints lean 100% sell
  • Imbalance from $26.40 to $28.55 invites sellers
  • Price already far below $30.08

What's going on at the bottom

Price is parked in a crowded little neighborhood. There is a demand block at $21.67, a bullish gap at $21.59, and dark pool sells at $21.50. Above sits $23.60, equal lows with stops below. The last CHoCH was down at 24.32, so the character change is already behind us, not ahead.

The dark pool shows no block prints, with 53% of volume off-exchange. No block-size prints, meaning nothing at 10,000+ shares or $1M+. That is small-lot internalized retail flow. No institution is stepping in here. No institution is stepping out through that door either.

The candle patterns on the daily argue with each other. Bullish marubozu, shooting star, bearish harami, all in a flat trend. When a chart gives me every signal, I take it as no signal.

How I'd play it

I wouldn't pay up for hope. The bullish lean is real, but it is conditional on price doing things it has not done yet. First it has to claw through the imbalance and not get rejected. Then it has to get back above the break level with volume behind it. Until then I'm watching, not buying.

If it does turn, the reward is large enough that I'd rather be late and right than early and stubborn.

Kill switch

Any one of these and the thesis is over, no averaging down, no renaming it.

  • A close below the swept low, which makes the sweep the real move
  • A retest of $38.00 to $41.33 that fails
  • A bounce that stalls inside $26.40 to $28.55 on thin volume
  • No close back above the break level on rising volume

Bottom line

I like the shape of the sweep and I like the size of the payoff at $42.95. I do not like a price that is already well beneath my invalidation of $30.08. This is a patience trade, and patience means the confirmation comes first.

The desk leans bullish. Bull or bear, the kill switch above is what keeps either call honest.
